Piggybanker's diary

Hi everyone

I've been lurking for some time, and trying to put into practice some of the ideas I've seen. Some are difficult for me though, as my income is significantly lower than my outgoings, even making only minimum payments. I've no surplus to throw at credit cards, and have not been successful in getting cards to balance transfer to for a better deal. The bank keep offering me account reviews and suggesting consolidation, but even that has been turned down.

The first of my loans will be paid off in 9 months, so I'll have an extra £335 to direct towards other debts.

In the meantime I've recently got a second job at weekends, although it is agency which suits me as I need a bit of flexibility, but also means it isn't guaranteed. I'm also doing AQA, ebaying and selling books on Amazon, doing surveys etc etc.

I've looked through my bank statements today and found £800+ worth of charges, so I've prepared letter to bank requesting complete list of charges as I think there are probably more. I'll send it tomorrow.

Also today I've changed my milk order - cut it by 1/4. Small things will soon add up I hope :-)

I'll do an SOA as soon as possible
Best wishes

Piggy

  • It's all a bit up and down!

So, this evening I plucked up the courage to post and felt great, for about 15 mins.

Then had a call from mum to say RBS had called twice today. I've not lived with mum for years, and the RBS card only dates from last summer - so, not best pleased that they called her. Anyhoo, called them back and felt rubbish for a while (slightly over limit due to underestimating interest and payment protection etc) .

Then, an email to say a book I've had on Amazon has sold so I'm a happy piggy again.
  • So, today's progress:

1 - Signed up to Quidco

2 - Applied for, and was accepted for, A&L bank account

    3 - Made 8 Christmas cards

4 - Found wine, beer and chocs that I can take to friends' house when we go for dinner tonight, so no spend today :-)

    Any advice on above SOA?

    Regards
    Piggy

    Hi Piggy,

Is the income figure both jobs or just your main job? Also is the fuel for a car as there are no costs for mot/insurance etc. Any possibility of a new main job earning more money or maybe even a payrise or promotion???
    Mortgage Total: £49,992/ £75,000
    2026 Mortgage Overpayments Pot £579
  • Hi Benben

I've only put income from main job as it is the only guaranteed income, unfortunately.

The fuel is petrol, but I have no other vehicle costs because for the time being I have a lease car (although the lease will end soon).

I've recently gained a qualification and there will be a small pay rise, (and I mean small). Then I will be on a new grade and will have an incremental rise annually as well as inflationary increase, but the amounts will still be small. I need to have a couple of yrs post qualifying to be able to gain promotion unfortunatly.

Thanks for your reply - hope I have remembered all the points you raised.

If your figures are halved then I would suggest you look at changing internet providers. Also, if you're not in a contract the mobile could be cut. And do you really need the union?
