I love people who get roped into BONDAGE lease contracts - it means i get to buy the immaculate car outright when it is 2 or 3 years old. I am currently looking at a 3 year old 207 with 16k on clock at £4900 brand new price was £13k. Somebody else paid (£207 * 38 payments) . Car still smells brand new
And by now they'll probably be paying all the dead cash on another car so you can upgrade again in a few years :rotfl:"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
Mmmm yes I see your point. Cars that are 2 or 3 yrs old are very attractive financially. I always wonder though whether they've been thrashed to within an inch of their lives though because the previous owner knew they wouldn't be keeping it. You can't see that kind of damage when you buy a car. You've also got the high cost of the first major service on a 3 year old car...If you will the end, you must will the means.0

If you own the car outright via a bank loan you can sell the car and recoup most of the money whereas in a hire contract it is loaded against you if you wish to terminate the contract part way through.0 -

Most likely the opposite - You trash the car - the lease Company will so reject the car and you pay serious hefty fine . I also want to know how one can trash a car with less than 20k on the mileage in three years.I owe £3233 @ 0%0 -

Thanks for all the replies. I do see your point - the more I think about it now the more it makes me realise that I take all the risk, not the retailers (despite them making it very clear in their advertising that they take all the risk!). I will now more than likely opt for a simple bank loan and buy a nearly new one outright. Should work out OK as VW's tend to hold their value very well.If you will the end, you must will the means.0
