What fun could you have with a DCA phone call?

I want to say "I've got DCA's on the phone" like saying "I've got squirrels in the loft" because it feels like the same sort of pestolence.

If the call volumes were any heavier or if they were giving me particularly dificult nonsense I'd do a phone number change, but the levels don't really justify the inconvenience.

I've been giving it with the old "everything in writing" line of course, but it's boring me and they've all heard it often enough now. I think I shall ask the next one to hold the line while I get "Mrs X" then sing ten green bottles in the back ground till they hang up. My singing is beyond awful. It also dispatches squirrels. :D

That's only good for a laugh once or twice though, the novelty will wear off.

Harmless ways to have fun with the DCA's anyone? We've had some cracking threads of this type before and I think it could be time to revive the mischievousness.
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
[STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

Cheers Fermi, that's the one, and I'm liking the sales ones too. :D

    Hi
poster on CAG diverted the calls back to them, so they rang themselves.
Also diverted calls to the dog-ing helpline ( nil to do with our cannine friends me thinks)

I will have to look into call diversion, I like that idea.

I did ask MH if they'd like paying in doughnuts - it didn't go down well.

Wescot's the current lot - I'm rather looking forward to that one, since I know more than enough dirt about them to get them quickly running away. I'll have to get it recorded.

What really winds these companies up is not a positive or a negative reaction - but no reaction.

It really, really rattles them to the core when the recipient is as calm as can be, even in the face of their bogus threats of stoning, etc.

It's not exactly DCA related, but might give a few ideas ;)

I recently had one of those 'We are getting error messages from your PC' scam phonecalls - you know, the ones where they try and get you to go to a site that *installes* spyware, and/or try and get you to pay for the priviledge too?

Well, they picked the wrong girl with me - I work as a computer geek for a living! So I started asking technical questions about operating systems and internet browsers and security standards...

Sadly I overestimated their intelligence somewhat - they hung up in under 5 minutes after having to ask both me and a supervisor what 'SSL' meant! Which means my Mum still holds the family record - she kept them on the line for 20 minutes before dropping the bombshell that she doesn't even own a computer, so why were they lying to her? :rotfl:

So thinking along those lines, I wonder what havoc could be caused if we could bottle the combined experience of our DFW experts and distribute it in medicinal form to all new posters - and have a voice recorder to hand for the results... ;)

And FTW, LOVING the doughnut idea! :rotfl:

Never underestimate the power of the techno-geek... ;)

The worse ones are where they some how manage to track you down... is there a secret database where they sell details??
and your manager is around the corner... and the secretary picks up the phone... and the phone is so loud it is like a loud speaker but you cannot find the volume control...

The Sec: .insert name. its Matthew calling from First Direct! Should I put it through?
No response as I was making tea.. so the sec asked him:
The Sec: Does he know who you are?
    FD: May be
The Sec: Does he know what the call is about?
    FD: Possibly
...the sec sees me and she puts it through to my ext.
    FD: Are you .insert name.
    Me: May be
FD: We have been told you have small debts and can help. Are you still in debt?
    Me: Possibly.
    FD: Haha
    Me: Bye
