Anti Glare on Glasses

Hi All

I have had some anti glare coating added to my glasses that is starting to come off.

Does anyone know where I can get it repaired or removed as 2 opticians have said that its cheaper to get new lenses.

Thanks

It is possible to remove an AR coating but the chemicals required are very powerful so there's a risk the lens itself may be damaged. Also, most labs will not re-coat old lenses, so it's very unlikely you'll find anyone to put a new coating on for you, and even if you could, it would certainly be unecomonic to do so.

This is why new lenses are normally recommended.

bitemebankers is right, when you strip the MAR coating off of a lens it never goes back on the same which can cause problems.

If the glasses are less than a year old and the coating is coming off at the edges it may be a glazing issue and the optician who supplied the lenses may reglaze them for free. If that's not the problem then you can get the MAR stripped from the current pair without getting a new one put on until such a time as you're ready to buy new lenses.

One of the labs like optical/vision express can make up new lenses in an hour with the coating, have you tried to get quotes for this?
