Competition is very tough - there are no jobs out there at the moment, unless you are in London. Lots of newly qualified teachers are out of work:(

There are quite a few jobs in my area and i'm not in London. There are a lot out of work though you are right. it took two of my friends two years after graduating to find a job. I'm currently training and know it's tough which is why I'm enhancing my CV as much as possible with voluntary work as a TA to hopefully give me more of a chance when I graduate.

  • You could try going down the assessing route within vocational training. With relevant industry experience, you can then go on and do the A1 assessor qualification. This can give useful contacts within teaching and a local college may even sponsor you through the correct training to become a teacher. Your NVQ would have been assessed by someone with or working towards their A1 award.
