I have an interview as a pharmacy assistant in the NHS, next month.

I would be grateful if anybody could let me know what the interview will entail and also what sort of interview questions will be asked.

thanks

My (NHS) interview at the beginning of this month went something like this...

    Run through of application form.

Q1. Tell me about your current (could be previous) role.

Q2. What do you like most about your current role?

Q3. What do you least like about your current role?

Q4. What do you know about the job you are applying for?

    Q5. What are your strengths?

    Q6. What are your weaknesses?

Q7. Give an example of teamwork within your current/previous role.

Q8. Are there any questions you would like to ask us?

Your questions may or may not be similar, but this should cover all the basics. Make sure you have answers prepared for all of these, but think about Q's 5 6 & 7 in particular as these come up almost every single time.

Oh, and the interview panel consisted of 4 people. 3 interviewers (standard) and one observer (not a usual occurance, but don't be put off if there is one there, they are not observing you). Your interview offer should tell you who will be present at your interview.

Don't worry if you feel your interview doesn't run for the full half hour (typically) allotted, mine took less than 10 minutes and I still got the job. Just concentrate on answering your questions well and you'll be fine.

Finally, don't forget your documentation and have it ready to hand over at the start of the interview.

    Good luck.
Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.

I don't work for the NHS, but with a publicly funded employer I'd expect a question on Equal Ops, so know what that includes, and also there could be confidentiality issues to consider.

I'd expect you to know about 'best practice' in your line of work too, so what checks need to be made before handing drugs over etc.
