Where can I find details of a previous mortgage?

Hi, I have what may seem a strange question. I am currently going through divorce proceedings and have been asked by my solicitor to provide details of my mortgage, house valuation and details of any debts. My ex continued to live in the house. He has been uncooperative to say the least so far which is why I'm trying to find the information myself.

Anyways, I have rang the mortgage company where we had our joint mortgage a couple of times and have been told on each occasion that they have no record of anyone by my name (maiden or married) at that address.

I have since looked on creditexpert and got my credit report and also the £2 statutory one off equifax but neither show any mortgage in my credit accounts, either existing or settled. The original mortgage will have been taken out in June 2001 and was still going at the beginning of 2007. We did have an IVA which is showing as being settled (3 years early) though I have no idea how either but that's a different question.

Does anyone know where I can find out what's happened to the mortgage that I certainly had?

Also, does anyone have any idea what may have happened (without my knowledge) which would mean I am no longer on that mortgage?

Thanks in advance!

I think if you get the land registry document relating to the house it may show details of legal charges and thus mortgages still in existence on it? land registry are online but I'm not sure if this is available at the weekend.

Others will be along soon to confirm or rubbish my suggestion :-)

Yorkie1's idea will show both whether you are recorded as an owner of the house and any mortgage over it.

Once you have that information, you can send any lender recorded on it a Data Subject Access Request. That should show up any debt you may have with the lender.

My solicitor has a copy of the information that comes off the Land Registry but I'm going to get a copy myself. I can't do it until Monday though as I don't have adobe on here to read the document once I've bought it. Thanks.
