I've just ordered one of these:http://christmasgiftsdirectuk.drct2u.com/productcache/CGF/BO3632/EP046AC.html.gz
because I've just been given a lovely collection of LPs but had nothing to play them on. I had a look around on Kelkoo etc and the price of systems etc. was way out of my range.
Then I got this flyer from https://www.christmasgiftsdirect.co.uk.They are one of the numerous catalogue stores linked to Simply Be.
The player on the link above is not exactly to my taste. And it won't suit any hi fi buffs. but it is a great price. I've just had a look round online and the cheapest is £59.99 for the same unit so its quite a bargain and won't take up much room.
Ah chaps and chapesses, just think about all those hi fi units and radiograms we consigned to the skip.........................
anyway, hope this helps someone

What's the p&p charge please? Don't want to go through all the reg process if it's too high. Great find - would suit my dad for xmas, Thanks OP!0

P&P is £2.99 - not bad I think and delivery from these sites is usually very quick.Stop looking for answers....

Actually there is one around that plugs into 'puter via USB port and allows copying of LPs to CD.
That's what I'm looking for."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

Yeah. £130.00 thats the problem.
Surely its possible to plug any old turntable into the sound card and record from there?"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

No, its not. The signal output from a cartridge is tiny. Amplifiers have a special circuit for PHONO connections.
That's another point, most soundcards have just line-in via a 3.5mm stereo jack plug. A turntable has phono collectors.
Line-in and Phono signals are totally different beasts.0 -
You could have turntable -> amplifier -> (amplifier output to soundcard). Probably via headphone connector. It would take a lot of fiddling, and quality might not be 100% spot on, so the easier option would be the £130 USB turntable one I think.Odd_Fellow wrote:No, its not. Just doing a hunt around, anyone interested in the OP might prefer this one at £35.00.
