Telling credit reference agencies you were unemployed?

Hi there,
I hope someone can help. I vaguely recall having read an article somewhere that mentioned that you can contact credit scoring agencies, such as Experian and tell them when you were unemployed, so that they could effectively put a note next to your 'black marks', or something along those lines.
Is this actually something that you can do?
Apologies for the vagueness.

I'm not certain. I recall reading an article a while ago that said you could inform the credit agencies that you were unemployed and that they would essentially remove the 'black mark' against your record.
I can't really recall much else and would appreciate some more info about how you go about doing this.
Thanks a lot.0 -
majicka have you seen your credit files? I ask because entries aren't really laid out as "black marks" and I got the impression you perhaps weren't that familliar with what they do write on them? Appologies if I've got it wrong.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

Yes, I have. By 'black mark', I simply meant where it shows that a payment was missed.
As I mentioned before, I vaguely remember reading this particular article and just wanted some clarification about what I could do.0
