Isn't that a bit OTT for jewellery, or are you going in for the rustic, wrought iron look? :p
    :)
I've always loved little wibbly wobbly old forges you see around the West Country. There's one for sale at the moment, which is affordable, but (being a forge) it's right on the side of the road. They always seem to be on roundabouts or bends, because they needed to be where horsemen could easily find them when passing through I guess.

I'd like a new build ... with a wibbly wobbly forge in the garden :)

So what do we know so far. Is it any commercial properties but not shops can be turned into residential with no planning permission needed?

What about old farm buildings and such, even old garages etc etc?

Shops aren't included, and there are likely to be other exclusions, so it might be prudent for some people on here to wait for the detail.

    Sounds interesting though. :)
It's a shame shops aren't included. With so many empty retail units, maybe secondary shopping streets near town centres could be converted into houses. It's not so long ago traders used to live in their shops anyway.

Homes are for living in, not speculating on.

No offence intended Pastures, but didn't you sell your home close to peak because you felt they had reached a very high price, and by selling and renting for a while you had the objective of buying back in to the market at a cheaper price later on?

To me, this is a perfect example of speculating on houses.

At least you're aware. Now to do something about it.

There is always "something" that stops you it seems. Is it part of your "condition"?
Too much focus on "Why not" not enough focus on "Why not?".

Its a good job shops aren't included as it would kill small Market Towns. Its the easy option and would cause untold long term damage.Think of all those thousands upon thousands of small businesses that sell their products through small high street shops as I'm sure they would not survive. There would be a loss of skills, imagination, innovation and once you lose those we are a souless society.

I think the end game to what you propose is people would only ever shop in out of town retail parks.Every park looking the same with the same shops in selling the same boring stuff..

It really is a hideous thought.....

Theres a massive old mill near me pretty much derelict. Only the ground floor is used as offices, and you can rent an office pretty cheap. The building isn't a wreck, it's pretty nice, about 7 floors high looking at the windows.

If they could convert all that to flats, it would be massively beneficial.

Got the parking, got the shell. Not sure what the inside is like.

I thought the general opinion was "we have enough flats" ("slaveboxes" for the more frothy individuals) and we wanted more houses?
