leather settee and cats

  • We have two kittens and a brand new leather suite. They have recked the sofa, there are claw marks all over it.

The main reason that some get marked and some don't is the type of leather used on the sofa. We have a semi analine that marks a lot easier.

Have a look at the leather guide on this site, it explains it a lot better.

I have 2 leather settees and have always had a cat since I've has the settees.

Oddly enough none of the cats have clawed the settees - I think the smooth surface must put them off.

My old cat never scratched at our leather sofa at alland he did spend a lot of time on it. We now have a fabric sofa and although its quite a smooth weave he is forever getting his claws stuck when he tries to get off. (perhaps they need just clipping)

we have the odd scratch on ours from the cats tearing around the house at the approximate speed of a jet propelled missile when they're playing. They don't pluck it though. We do have 2 scartching posts in the same room to discourage it.
My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

our cats have left our sofa untouched, as some others have said the smooth surface seems to offer them no satisfaction...they much prefer the rugs, curtains, fabric armchair - anything they can get a nice tug out of!
