Nationwide MIP referred for more info (FTB)

Hi

My wife and I have applied for a mortgage through an IFA today to the Nationwide (who I've banked with for 10+ years).

It has come back as a referral requesting a list of 8 things for each of us, i.e. P60's, bank statements, evidence of deposit etc.

The referral states that the affordability is good, (Mortgage for £135000, £15000 to £20000 deposit) for property of £150000. Combined income of £52000.

It does however refer to adverse credit, namely my Default from just over 5.5 years ago and possibly a couple of missed payments in the last year. (Chronically ill baby in hospital at the time, so a couple of payments got forgotten. Not a priority at that moment).

My IFA seems to think that the fact that they have requested all the info that they have is a good omen. (I have emailed him 14 seperate docs, some of them multiple docs)

A previous search last week with the Halifax was a point blank no. (IFA recommended them as their search won't appear on credit file?)

Experian shows file as Fair and climbing month by month.
Equifax shows file as Good, also climbing.

I would just be interested in a different slant on things if anyone can help?

Thanks

The Turkey..

I have had cases declined by NW even when the DIP has requested more info.

You should know early next week. How much was the default for and is it settled now?

Default was for £300 and was settled June 2005.

It was a repayment of £13 a month through HFC who wouldn't let me set up a Direct Debit. As I was a serviceman then, it wasn't easy making payments from the desert. Hence the default.

I put a notice of correction on my credit report to try and help the situation. Only 3-4 months til it comes off though.

Notice of correction will always lead to a referral as a computer cannot read it.

When was the default put in place? Should be dropping off soon if settled June 05.

Hopefully you will get the right result.
