Hi All!
I'm new to this forum and so apologies if i'm posting wrongly as i'm quite aware on what i'm gonna be posting has already been discussed, however, i'm still at a loss .... please help!.
Today i received a letter from Ruthbridge Limited where they state that they are attempting to contact the above named person (me), they ask to contact their offices immediately quoting a reference number and further information can be provided.
After re-searching this company on the internet, i know they are a debt collecter and i know it will be to do with my debt from 2004.
Could someone please advise me my next step, if i dont reply to this letter, will they arrange an agent to call me?, will they keep pursuing me until i agree to this debt? or if i ignore them, do they eventually stop? (i'm hoping the latter!)
Thanks everyone xx

Do you know what debt they may be trying to collect?
It's certainly NOT a good idea to ring these people. They bully and fib about what the can and will do. Plus if they don't already have your phone number, then you certainly don't want them getting it.
Honestly, if they haven't got the common decency to put proper details of exactly what they want in their letter, or they are that unsure they are writing to the right person that they daren’t put details in it, then they don't deserve a response.
Personally I would ignore them until they write to you properly with full details of what exactly they are chasing. If they do happen to do that, then you and we can work out how to respond.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I too just got a letter from these guys. A debt that defaulted almost six years ago. Im unsure of the exact date. Am i right in thinking that once six years is up it gets wiped and they cant keep chasing you?0

Yep. 6 years from the date you last made a payment or acknowledged the debt in writing a debt becomes statute barred (or 5 years in Scotland)Left to Pay/Originally Owed
