    ... and when our house was destroyed by fire some years ago we had to go on Debt Management then and it was terrible ...
    I once had a small house fire - only lost 1 room. But in one way or another, I lived in the shadow of that fire for about 8 years. I'll just pose the question do you think that your spending may be in any way a reaction to the loss from the fire? I'm not expecting an answer, just suggesting it as a possible route to insight on your issue.

    May be, if you think back to the days before the fire, you were thinking of buying something or spending some money? Perhaps you have forgotten what you were going to buy and things have moved on so it makes no sense any more, but there is a remaining desire to buy which stays undischarged, because you never actually manage to buy quite what you were looking for?
