Fitnotes

My wife has a fitnote and is dated to return to work on the 21st of March. She has been told by her employer she needs a return to work note but has been told by her GP she does not. These fitnotes came into effect in April and succeeded the old sick notes.I think the GP is correct but can only find info that says you do not need to see your GP again if he declares you fit for work on a certain date, which is correct?
The wifes boss got quite snotty when told she doesn't have to get a return to work note.

According to the guidance on Fit Notes she does not need to provide another note to say she's fit for work as there is no option on the fit note form to say that a person is fit for work.
The only reason to require you to go back to the doctor to be declared fit to work is if the GP wrote on the original fit note that he wanted to assess your fitness for work again before you go back to employment.
