  • I noticed that the telephone numbers were 087 numbers - could this be some kind of scam?

  • This happen to us when my DAD sent told a DCA that he was living at our new address (Moved to get away from him and didn't tell him to address so god knows how he got it.) We called them and put them straight, telling them his actual address and we haven't heard anything from them since.

Check your credit reports and if it shows on there ask them to remove it but it's very doubtful it'll be on there as it isn't your debt.

The whole 087 thing is a scam in itself really but fortunately https://www.saynoto0870.com is a most invaluable tool. There's nothing scam-like about DCA's using 087 numbers, but I think the system as a whole is a scam as it's so unclear to most people.

BCW are well known for persuing debts out of statute barred time. I really wouldn't worry about it. It wont affect your credit rating.

Have to agree though i would have just put it back in the post not known at this address.

Had one of these today and that's the attitude I took to it too - I'm not ringing some 0871 number.

Wasn't the letter addressed to the *debtor* not the original poster?

This company are sent debts by Moorcroft, I just had utter hassle with them through something which was transfered to Moorcroft by accident and then they sold it on to them, (by gas & elec company on something I was paying off inc in gas & elec direct debit) well I tell you what I would ignore it as the staff are the most ignorant and rude people I have ever had to deal with, even worse than Moorcroft.
One day I might be more organised...........
