first time poster : bailiff/council tax help please

  • My old flatmate has just had a visit from a bailliff who is chasing me for council tax arrears. I only stayed with her 2 months rent free after I split with my partner and have effectively become homeless, sleeping on friends sofas etc. I have explained to the council my circumstances and made various offers of repayment. I have no bank account, always offer to pay in cash at town hall. I am pretty sure that the bailiff can't do anything to my friend, as I don't even live in the property anymore, as she was concerned over sub-letting etc. I gave the council the address as a c/o address rather than chopping and changing with them. Need help now though!
  • please help i have the bailiff coming tomorrow to make an arrangement on £137 but as of tomorrow i will be laid off the council say i can av it returned to them when i have my papers from jobseekers which could benext tues at latest can i get out of paying the bailif and his fees :(
