Then the earthquake struck.Honda said it was monitoring the supply of parts to its Swindon plant in southern England closely while Toyota noted a 3-day halt to production in Japan would not have an immediate impact on deliveries to Europe given shipping from Japan takes six weeks by boat.
Both companies have suspended production in Japan with Honda saying that it had set up emergency coordination centres both in Japan and Swindon0 -

Yeah, a lot of the Japanese manufacturers have halted work at many factoies nationwide.

JIT (Just In Time) production means no stock of stores to fall back on.0 -

Toyota have stopped overtime at the UK plants (which had been set as 1 hour per day as production had increased).
There is of course some stock in the pipeline but probably 6 weeks max including on boat from Japan to UK.0 -
