I'm almost through my trust deed (Scottish Version of an IVA). It should complete at the end of the year and then I hope all the stuff that needs signed off is done in a couple of months. I've been reading a lot of the posts on this forum about re-establishing credit worthiness and was wondering how long I should leave it after discharge to start doing this.
I can't do much with my credit report. I know some dates are marked later than my trust deed became protected but as I haven't kept anything with account numbers, I can't contest this. At the moment I have a cashplus card but haven't added credit builder. My main reason for wanting to repair the damage I've done is to get a current account again. At the moment, I have a Halifax basic account with an Electron card and would rather have a visa debit. Going by what I've seen on my Experian report, the latest default I have is Sep 2009 so will need to wait till 2015 before having a blank file. A little annoying seeing as my trust deed became protected in Jan 2009. Not to worry, a small price to pay for getting out of the position I was in.
I've also seen that people apply for mobile contracts and storecards/catalogues. Again, how long should I wait to do this? I'm trying to get a plan in place for how to manage things and show myself to have accepted I made a lot of mistakes but that I've learned from them.
Thanks for any help.:o
