Broker search: UK mortgage for a couple - 1 works in the UK, 1 works in the EU

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone out there could help us find a whole-of-market mortgage broker for us:

I work and live in the UK (have a mortgage under my name) and my boyfriend works and live half of the year in the EU (renting) but we are both registered at our UK address and maintain the repayment for the mortgage. We would now like to move to a bigger property and get a joint mortgage but dont know which broker to go to, to find a mortgage for us; searching for "international mortgage" online only yields mortgages for properties abroad. What we need is to find a broker that can get us a decent deal on a mortgage for a couple where 1 is a UK taxpayer and the other is an EU taxpayer but that their main resident is in the UK.

Can someone help, please?

    Not an 'international mortgage' as described there - provided advice/contract processed in UK should be standard (no FSA passport approval necessary). Probably worth doing an electronic PofA and PoI and credit report check based on main address in advance of application.

    Some lenders may quibble about employment basis, but many would accept.

    Probabaly better with the small firm rather than a large 'processing factory' but (subject all the normal affordability/credit rating stuff) should be perfectly do-able.

    Depends if you want local (face to face), you don't say where you are, or happy to do internet/over phone. As ever, family/friends recommendation ideal - if not available try www.searchmortgagebroker.com, www.unbiased.co.uk, www.freeindex.co.uk etc (have a read of the websites and get a feel for them), they will all have initial conversation without cost/commitment.

  • Thank you VERY MUCH for all the info!

    We're based in London and will remain so when we purchase our next property. Prefer face-to-face, we dont mind where geographically we have to go to get it, and will search for brokers that offer such service.

    Proof of address and identity, as well as credit check report are no problem - forgot to mention that my boyfriend, who's an EU citizen, lived and worked in the UK for 13 years up to 2 years ago.

  • You may have missed my point - use the electronic version of ID/Address checks ahead of actual application to ensure that no problems will be generated at application stage (standard copies of passports/utility will also be needed).

    Based on recent past experince, it really sounds no problem based on yoru information here, provided adviser researches/prepares properly to avoid potential problems
