I have just written a letter to my bank appealing their decision to decline my request for additional borrowing. We have our mortgage with them for many years and have never missed a payment. We want to borrow £9000 which will pay off a couple of outatanding debts nd the remainder for home improvement. We have a poor credit score and this is the reason we have been declined. The mortgage advisor gave us figures for the additional borrowing and we would actually be paying less per month than we are now! Also by paying off our outstanding debt this would reduce our monthly outgoings by £400. I have explained all of this in the appeal letter but just wondered if anyone knows how the appeal process works or have experience of it? Is it actually worth appealing?

The bank may not be happy with you consolidating debt and are under no obligation to let you borrow more from them. Go onto the Debt Free Wannabee forums for help with your debts, and save up for the home improvements once your debt is gone.0
