Help on making a Mr Tumble doll!

Hi all, i am hoping you can give me some tips and advice on making a soft toy. It is my DS 2nd birthday next month and he loves Mr Tumble and as there are no where to buy Mr Tumble toys i was hoping to make one for him. But the hard part is... i've never done anything like this before! :o I want to make him a bigger version of this doll which he has already as it was a freebie with the Cbeebies mag - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/mr-tumble-something-special-soft-toy-good-condition-/130496925625?pt=UK_Toys_Creative_Educational_RL&hash=item1e62390fb9#ht_500wt_1156
I've already bought the material and had some stuffing left over from some Easter chicks i've been making. But can someone tell me what is the easiest way to approach this task? Do i have to draw out a pattern first or do anyone have one they can share with me?
Hope someone can help! My DS will be having a Mr Tumble party and this as a gift would be fab!
Thanking you all :)

LJM thank you! Think i'll keep that tutorial in mind when making my version. Can anyone tell me what glue is best to glue felt?

You can buy fabric glue (or just sew rather than glue - Im not sure if some fabric glues are toxic these days or not)

Thanks guys, can't wait to get started! I think it is one of those task where you make up as you go?... well for me anyways! Fingers cross it turns out looking like Mr Tumble and not a random clown LOL! Will keep you all posted with my progress, with pics of course! x
  • Why thankyou for the recommendation LJM. Mr Tumble is still very much loved and miraculously in one piece. I hope the other readers were successful in making him

Hi, The_Moiderer! Love your doll you made! Looking forward to making mine, hope DS loves it. :)
  • You must post a picture of how you get on. I made a few for friends for Christmas and eventually just drew the mouth and freckles on with permanent marker which I thought was a lot better. But it did work to make multiple dolls from the same template even if you are terrible at sewing like me!
