Have you tried tesco's for baskets (if you have one nearby?) I saw lots of nice baskets in there today - they had a set of two for £3.98 or 3 bigger ones for £7.?? (I think)

    P.S thanks for the ideas!!:T

    Hiya:wave:
Unfortunately we only have a Tesco Metro and it is pants! We are very limited - Tescos, Morrisons, two pound shops that are absolutely terrible - full of complete tat whereas the poundland I was in the other day was excellent. My next stop is the Charity shops which we seem to have loads of, hopefully I will be able to pick some kind of baskets up there but I'm not holding my breath. I have tried every other shop in the town with no joy!

Found the following on tesco's website:

Not as cheap as in store but gives you some idea of what they are like!
  • How about a fancy foil cutter? Not expensive, looks good and lots of great ones around at the moment -

or how about one of those wine cooling jackets that you keep in the freezer?

Stilton or a stronger cheddar always work well with wine - why don't you pop to the supermarket as they are selling wine gifts and you can see what they are including. Esp on the cheese front.
  • Perhaps it depends if the recipient is male or female?
I'd go down the cheese or chocolates route :O)
I love wine & would absolutely love this!

Perhaps one of those glasses that you can fit a whole bottle of wine into as a novelty - I'm sure you can get these in poundshops or supermarkets and those novelty gift shops.

Some mulled wine sachets of buy some from schwartz & wrap yourself in a wee cloth bag or put into a decorated jar?

Even a scented candle and bubble bath/crystals.

    Their favourite dvd?

    Great idea - good luck!!

  • Ooh just thought of some more, jars of green olives, black olives, tapenades, mustard, chutneys, jam, packets of their favourite spices???

Even perhaps some PJs, or cosy bed socks, a robe, slippers.....

Try to think cosy night in, or glam brunch, or cooking for friends as themes???

I went to instore today and managed to get two lovely wine goblets, they are kind of purply coloured glass so will look much nicer than normal wine glasses. They were £2 each & well worth it.

    The ideas are great.
It is for a female who doesn't really eat much chocolate & tends to buy everything she wants/needs for herself, so it is really difficult & she only drinks red wine - just to make it even more difficult!!

I'll add a picture when its finished.

I bought some beautiful wine charms in Tesco last week for 50p!! This was a pack of 6 with little beads on them.

Has anyone suggested nuts? You can get some very fancy packs this time of year and it's a perfect accompanyment to wine.
Or maybe a small christmas cake- you can buy them readymade from all the shops.
    ;) Newbie Comper ;)

Clynol shampoo + cond, LUSH Christmas set

I like the idea of nuts - might get some mixed packs with nuts a fruits.
  • someone mentioned the wine cooler sleeve that you use to chill wine, you can also get one for red wine too that keeps it at the right temperature, I got a set that had both in from john lewis but im sure you could get them cheaper elsewhere (also john lewis have some great bottle stoppers, I just got a couple of snowglobe ones with santa and a snowman in-not the moneysaving way though as they were about £4.50)
finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!
  • This is it so far......
