Mortgage for my partner and I - help!

Hello,
So myself and my fiance applied for a mortgage on a small coach house that was well in our budget. We got an OIP to say we was allowed but had to have credit check.
Basically long and short of it is the credit check came back and they didn't like my name.
SO that was that, it was a no and we have agreed to keep saving until my current situation is sorted.
However now they have phoned back and offered the house cheaper and said we can get mortgage as long as its just in my partners name.
Okay first thoughts for me were -Yay can get the house, but boo- what happens if it all goes wrong , I am out of pocket and dont have a house!
So can anyone help, can my name be on the deed to the house along with my fiance's or is it just the mortgage holder that can be on it?
Also when we do get married, will the house become my property legally? Therefore if (fingers crossed it doesnt) we broke up, or something similar, would I have any rights?
I will be paying towards mortgage every month.
Will it be safer to get a notice of sorts stating we both own? Or am I talking rubbish..
Sorry its long, all help appreciated.

Only the person on mortgage can be on the deeds.
"they didn't like my name" - why? Have you adverse credit? "current situation" - How long until it improves?
Solicitor can advise on potential ways to protect you, but best way would be to get your name on the deeds, which means getting your credit in order and buying together.Act in haste, repent at leisure.
