I lost out on one job because - and I quote - "you're a woman of child bearing age" ......... illegal I know but I don't want to get a reputation for taking companies down so I haven't taken it further. I lost out on another two because I was used as an HR equality pawn - they'd already selected an internal candidate to develop and were required by law to advertise externally to make it fair. The agency were !!!!ed when HR told them.
My point is... you never know the real motives of some people/companies so don't take it personally.
 Thank you.
 that is awful to be turned down for that reason! I've seen in the news only a couple of weeks ago how Alan Sugar thinks interviews should have the right to ask females about their plans for children to save companies taking people on who could go on maternity leave in the future. It's utter rubbish though and would be totally unfair for us to be judged on that.
That is also annoying how many companies do that, especially when it takes so long so fill out application forms and sit waiting to hear back to discover someone had already got the job before it was advertisedSaved: £1566.53/ £20000

Well men take paternity these days too so if they're going to do that they should ask EVERYONE to make it fair :P0
