Annoyed with Parents Financial Situ

Perhaps I am being a bit too harsh on my parents here but the way they handle their finances really annoy me.
My dad has been on long term sick since April and has just been finished from his job in October. He is now on Incapacity Benefit but I don't feel that he is entirely incapable of working, but I won't go into that here.
My Mum works part time and would not be able to increase or decrease her hours (or so she says) and she won't get a second job.
Mum told me they live on £188 a week, apparently out of that they pay £100 towards their rent and council tax (they have applied to get a reduction but had this refused) and £88 is towards gas, electricity, water and food.
She was having a moan tonight saying how are they supposed to live on that, but got a bit upset when I said there are people who live on less.
They spend about £70 a week on shopping and when I advised her that for 2 of them they should be looking at around £25 to £30 she argued that no one could have decent meals on that amount of money, she was a bit taken aback when I said that my husband and I do.
They pay £42 a month on water (unmetered account)
£10 a week on gas
£5 a week on electricity
They have no debts as they are very anti-debt.
I cannot seem to get through to them and it is getting me down about how they moan to me about it
Sorry for the rant

I hate it when parents moan about things which they have control over.
I just give it the lalala Im not listening bit and slam some doors
If they have no debt then surely they have nothing to moan about. If they want more money they have to earn it or spend less. It isnt rocket science.
Im quite harsh too though arnt I? your in good company with me bunnie
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Thanks
I think I upset her because I said that there are people who live on a lot less but are still grateful for what they have0 -
Keep smiling Bunnie and switch off.

completely agree with you. It's simple, if you want more money spend less or earn more. They can hardly complain as they don't have any debts to be worrying about!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
Que sera, sera.
