Anyone any experience of LILA in Scotland?

Hi Chaps,

First post so bear with me.

I'm just about to go down the LILA route of bankruptcy in Scotland. To cut a long story short I am a long term credit tradgedy and owe just slightly over 25k, lost my job a few years back in the credit crisis and now work as a Support Worker - Amazing life change, but not brilliant money and I just cannot deal with the calls, letters and the other rubbish (including my mum trying to set the dog on a doorstep collector!).

I dont have any assets, or car, but do have a clear bank account with a Visa Debit card I dont want to loose.

Basically, I just want to hear the pro's and con's before I pay my money and join the growing statistics....

Thanks

If I had discovered MSE this time last year I may not be going down the road to BR

Hi roougers and Welcome, Until Scottish posters can advise further, DoshDolt's threads maybe helpful.

Threads by DoshDolt, click on blue link below:-

    Reminder from coolcait :-
Most of doshdolt's great information on going bankrupt in Scotland is still absolutely valid.

But a few changes were made on 15 November 2010 so, please check the Accountant in Bankruptcy website carefully, to make sure you've got all the up-to-date info - and the correct form!

    Best wishes
    If...x

    Edit: link not working!!

    Thanks guys.

After reading all the info I only have one more question...

    1. Do they send someone round to your house to 'interview' you like I have heard down south?

Although it will probably be a phone interview (cost saving!), you can ask for a personal interview at your house
Some folk prefer a face to face interview – particularly if you want someone with you for moral support. And to remind you of all the things you’ve forgotten in the heat of the moment. And to check you’ve not said anything silly.

I'm not fussed about it, just have to get my mum round to the idea of things.

She tried to set the dogs on a door step collector, so you see what I have to deal with !! LOL

Actually now that I mention it, that was something else I was going to ask, how common are these door collectors in Scotland?

I moved up here to get away from them!!
