Help - quick question

Does anyone know if Halifax and HSBC are in anyway linked and can use the right to offset?

Thanks

As a follow on from this question, sorry. I have a defaulted Halifax CC and a very healthy (as in satisfactory run not funds) Lloyds joint account. The Halifax account was sold years ago to a DCA who we pay monthly. Can Lloyds still empty our joint current account to pay off Halifax even though they don't own it? The Halifax account was sold BEFORE Lloyds aquired Halifax by the way.

Also, can they take money from my wifes account (at the same branch) seeing as we are financially connected. The Halifax CC was mine, not a joint account.
