Not sure if this is the right place for this, but if not I'm sure some kind soul will redirect me. I'm looking for a good IFA in the Surrey area, who works on commission rather than fees. We have a fixed rate mortgage that runs out in September and I need to get a new deal. The current deal is with Santander, but it was an absolute nightmare getting it ourselves and I was advised at the time by various people that IFAs can often bypass some of the hassle.

Thing is with commision earners you will not be told about the CHEAPER direct to lender non commision deals. A good broker can tell you how to go about getting these deals and will sit with you while the application is made direct to them, often over the phone. He will de - brief you on every question they will ask you - this is not a simple task. Such a broker will need to charge a fee though. You might find one who will instead arrange the life assurance and earn that way though.
