Finally Debt Free

Hey everyone.

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to render myself Debt Free... I have one little question though.
I've got a Credit Expert account, and it still hasn't been updated to reflect my current status, it's still showing my previous debt.

Does anyone know when it would update?

Regards

  • Congrats on reaching debt free status.

As far as I know (from my own experience) it takes Experian about 8 weeks to be updated with changes. Not sure about the other credit reference agencies.

    Very well done. Congrats :).
In my experience it takes roughly 8 weeks for all the credit reference agencies to reflect the true nature of your status.
Debt at worst: £33000 (Feb 2011). Present debt: £25610 (Apr 2012)
    Lloyds old (22.4%) = 560 (Dec 2012)

Well done High Flyer - I cannot WAIT to be able to post to say I am debt free! I'm so impatient, I'd be expecting my credit file to be updated straight away to show I didn't owe anything LoL!

Well done again, and enjoy your freedom! ;)
  • I can confirm this. From paying off the final debts it took about 8 to 10 weeks for the credit expert to update fully - i will never forget the constant (daily) logging on to see what had come off. We didnt do the whole snowballing thing - we had got down to about 15% of our outstanding debt balance at LBM across all our debts - all APRs were shocking so didnt matter!! but were sadly fortunate (?) to benefit from an inheritance of a 4 figure sum which we threw at the lot to clear.

I still have kept the credit expert subscription open at £9.99 / month as I still cant believe we finally did it - now I am paranoid about new debt!!!

The debt free journey definitely changes a person and very very well done for achieving this goal. I still read the many new posters that have just had their LBM and wish them all the best for the journey ahead. If we can do it then anyone can!!

  • Thank You very much everyone, I can definitely say it's a weight off my shoulders.

I'll stop the repetitive clicking every day, i'll wait the 8 weeks to see.

    Once again, thank you everyone.
