Volunteering at a farm with free board

I have been looking at websites which promote volunteers to stay at farms ( and work of course) with free stay. Has anyone done that? I'm considering it.

No personal experience but heard some good things about this organisation:
http://www.wwoof.org/ Ultimately I guess it depends on who you are volunteering for and what you can offer them. It isnt a holiday and a working farm will expect someone to be physically up to it and not moan if separated from a games console or tv for the day.0 -
