Hi guys,

Can anyone give me some advice?

I've just been declined a loan from Halifax (despite constant letters offering me £10,000) should I try elsewhere or is that me screwed?

Thanks!

Did you apply by responding to one of these offers, or did you just apply yourself?

What reason have they given for declining you (e.g. credit score or credit reference agency)?

How much did you apply for, what reason did you state, what term did you ask for?

  • Sorry guys, we applied for 10k. Have a joint income of about 55k, both been employed for over 3 years ( I'm nearer 5)

My husband has a perfect credit rating, I've had a few past issues however have never missed a payment on anything within the last 3 years. I have a mortgage in my sole name, current car finance and cc with no balance (never missed a payment on any of these) my husband has a cc with approx £1200 balance (pay at least £500 towards it per month)

We didn't apply direct to the letter but online, then we called the bank and applied in hubby's name only(girl said it wouldn't be detrimental) and still refused

You mention some "past issues" and a clean record going back 3 years. How old are these issues and what were they?
