Loans for the unemployed.

I wanted to try for a loan of around £8,000 so I rung Santander to arrange an appointment to discuss it. My credit rating is excellent, even though I am unemployed I have a mortgaged property and have banked with them for 25 years. I was told point blank I couldn't even have an appointment as I wasn't working! So is that it, no options for me to get a loan?
Many thanks, advice would be gratefully appreciated. :)

They have a point, if you have no job or regular income how would you plan on paying them back?

It does seem reasonable not to give you a loan if you have no job...

How did you plan on paying it back?

if it is not spam judging by the banking 25 years one can only assume they have retired, hence no job.
Or maybe Welsh Mel Gibson wants 8K to have his sex dolls shipped out of house whilst it is on sale and paying back out of hose money? Loads of ways Unemployed people can pay things back.

Honestly, some people are wayyy to quick to jump on the trashing bandwagon without thinking things through.

A mortgaged house implies income entering the household to pay it. 25 years banking, implies not a student or young adult.

There are a number of circumstances that this could happen, military for example? 22 years service gives decent pension. And if this is the case, they certainly dont deserve the sarcastic and nasty comments above

And how many people do you know enter a forum for the first time and say oh incase Star-fire asks "I have a pension" Pension makes you sound so old and drab, Who wants to admit that without knowing who they are talking to?

That is like some random guy passing you in the street saying !Bah! i am HIV Positive" It just doesn't happen.

Blah blah blah - the title says "loan for UNEMPLOYED" not "loan for RETIRED"
