Hi. This might be in the wrong place but has anyone got any experience in going to uni in Australia? I'm seriously thinking about it, more so than the UK, but would appreciate any ideas on costs and future employment etc?

Employment is better there in general. If you plan on living there it is better to study there as the qualifying bodies are different to ours.Owed out = lots. :cool:0

Your problem is going to be funding. I believe you have to be an Australian citizen to be eligible for any form of university funding.0

Older is exactly right - education as a foreign student in any country is much more expensive than a resident student. I'm Australian (have been living here 8 years) and even I'm still classed as a foreign student here (albeit post grad). My advice would be to look at the universities in Oz who offer the courses you want and then look at fees for foreign students. Another alternative would be to look at universities here and their foreign rates will give you an idea of how much they jump up for foreign students. Also bear in mind that you will be severely restricted on the amount of hours you can work on a student visa, so you will be hard up supporting your living expenses, let alone tuition. If you plan on studying in Sydney or Newcastle, double you living expenses!0

Horrendously expensive. Just googled my old Alma mater in Queensland.
Cheapest degree - Social Work $16500 per year
Most Expensive - Veterinary Science - $40000 per year
Add to that, living expenses (they estimate up to $23000 pa, visa costs, medical insurance (compulsory)
Flights
etc
..........well you get the picture - A degree in Veterinary Science would end up costing in the region of $200000 or £125000.
