  • a suggestion would be to put tinsel round the edge of the basket. i saw this on some christmas gift sets in asda and thought it would be good way to decorate any baskets. they used silver tinsel. poundland are selling loads of tinsel at the moment. baskets look great.

I've just done this - tee hee. Found 2m tinsel at 15p each in Asda hidden on a bottom shelf - I've twisted each piece and used one per basket as it was a bit thin, but hey, it was 15p! They look better already - will poss alter the images

I'll try poundland tomorrow - Thanks Simba. Failing that, there 2 card shops around the corner from poundland. Yes Kaja, I'm sure I have some last year that were in the crackers, thanks, now where did I put them?

Before you try poundland for crepe paper you could try a shoe shop :)

I posted this on the hamper thread - I work at Clarks and the shoe and boot boxes are filled with tissue paper that we just throw away. If you pop in and ask & dont mind being cheeky then I'm sure they'd give you some.

When people ask us for shoe boxes for the xmas charity boxes I usually ask them if they want some tissue paper with it to help pad it out. Its good quality stuff and would look fine for the base of a hamper.
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

They look really good, i'd be really impressed that someone had gone to all that trouble for me. I've especially taken note of the scottish one as I buy my hubby lots of scottish stuff every christmas....maybe I should do it as a hamper this year.

    Well done!

What I have done in the past is crumple newspaper up to pad out the basket then just put a piece of Christmas wrapping paper over the top of it to hide and it costs next to nothing or if you have a paper shredder just pop in any spare bits of Christmas paper ,that too looks great
  • Thanks everyone - hope the people getting them like them - just moved house so things are a bit tight - I've never put so much thought into them before this year though!

Yes Rachie B - I have just ordered some pink and clear cellophane to wrap them in. I figured the 2 colours should be fine to do them all.

Jopsey, I'll def do this if I can't find any crepe paper - I'm not sure I'm brave enough to ask in the shoe shop :o

Just out of curiosity (sp) how much is everybody paying for the cellophane to wrap baskets in ?
