    Seems like a good deal.

Does it make that much of a difference going for an 'HD Ready' TV as opposed to 'Full HD'? We have a full HD set in the living room which is ace - would a HD ready one give you similar quality? We have Sky+ HD by the way.

The Samsung LE40C580 Full HD LCD with HD Freeview is far superior. £461 from John Lewis with 5 year warranty or £400 from Amazon with 1 year warranty (2 years if you have an Egg Mastercard or other card with similar benefits).

There's nothing to touch it for SD & HD picture quality & build quality, short of a Panasonic Viera TX-P42G20, which is far more expensive.

Full HD refers to the TV being capable of displaying a resolution of 1080p. - Sky+ HD currently broadcasts in mainly 1080i anyway so an HD ready TV will be fine if that is your main source of HD.

If however you are going to be watching Blu-rays and wish to see them in all their glory, then you will need a full HD TV.

I agree. But it's for the mother-in-law who really only watches Freeview so I don't think she would be able to tell the difference....her eyes have seen better days..........
