Postage stamps - any discounts around please?

Options
Fingers crossed this is posted within the correct area:

Are there any cunning postage stamps savings to be had - especially with the forthcoming price rise?

Thanks muchly in advance

I tend to bulk buy in Superdrugs and then use for postage for the rest of the year.

As an aside two of the ladies in my post office really take offence to having to make up the value on parcels with 'their' stamps to make the postage up to second class (i've normally pre stuck some first class stamps on the parcel but not enough to fully pay for the postage). I always go in politely but they always huff and puff and complain and last week even said something derogitory as I was leaving. Very unprofessional indeed.

Apparently Superdrug are currently selling 1st class stamps at a 5% discount. (think post was on "Quick grab it while you can"). Yes we use a post office where the people serving "huff and puff" a lot!
    Growing old disgracefully!

Thought the 5% off at Superdrug didn't start until 16th so hang on a couple of days.

Haven't seen one, but never had a problem getting the discount in the past when they have this offer on. Just wish they had the discount on 2nd class stamps as well.

Why don't you save yourself a lot of time and effort and "INVEST" about £3 ......

..... and buy about a dozen of the 5 basic make-up value stamps

    namely 1p, 2p, 5p, 9p and 10p

    costing 12p + 24p + 60p + 108p + 120p = £3.24

then you can change postages to your hearts content and not "upset" anyone.

You'll soon discover the ones you use most to make the values you require and you can adjust future purchases to suit

That's what I do - I'm still using some 1st & 2nd NVI stamps that I bought over 2 price increases ago - best investment of £200 to £300 I've ever made - used over half the stamps and they are still worth almost the amount I paid for them :rotfl:
Even made my own make-up postage table to stop re-inventing the wheel each time :)

    Whether it's one large 1st + two large 2nd + one 1st + a 9p stamp
    or 3 large 2nd + two 1st + two 2nd + a 2p stamp

that make up some obscure amount for an airmail printed matter package to Australia or a surface mail letter to Europe.

    Hi there

Sensible idea but a lot of my post is eBay stuff - hence I still have to ask the post office staff for a proof of postage. Currently I dont feel half bad asking for this when I'm, at least, buying a few pence worth of their staff.

In the past I have asked the staff for the 'proof of postage' forms which I fill out before so they only have to stamp them. It would appear now that the Royal Mail are stopping printing these books (or at least thats what the huff and puff staff told me).

    Thanks again
