i dont think its a case of being a scaredy cat...I think you are being sensible not abusing the system..I think people who do this are running the risk of not only getting caught but they are risking tesco pulling the whole deal

I put two receipts in last night and as you never know till you get the voucher how much you will get wasn't sure it would take my total over £100. they both went through and my total is now over 100. I have used the same e mail for all my receipts and I would have assumed that if I went over the limit I wouldn't get a voucher
saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200
    £60 deposit paid :j £100 paid:j £40 paid:j
  • well one happy bunny today
    just got yesterdays receipt result
shop value £44.15 used £19.20 dtd voucher so actually paid £24.95, got back £44.30 voucher
got 2 x banrock ( sadly price changed today)
    mclellands cheese
    1ltr baileys

so adding this to vouchers i've already saved making voucher total just over £60
    :j

Does this mean with the voucher you get from tesco through email you can use this voucher to go and by more good and also price check those even though you have reached your £100 cap?

Quick question - Do you need to have a clubcard to take part in this?
OH woks in tesco but i dont want to use her card as then i would get 20% less the DTD price.

Im not sure but i think the privaledge card discount will be taken as a payment rather than a discount, so i think it will be fine, but i havnt checked this out yet!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOUBLE THE DIFFERENCE: TESCO VS. ASDA - A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Extra info has been added at the bottom of this post!

Right fellow money savers...there are new people coming across this thread everyday and so long as tesco don't pull the plug, I can see this being at the top of the grabbit forum for a while.

I've noticed that people commonly ask questions about the process, how to check prices etc. So, I thought it would be good to have a step-by-step guide about the DTD process for people who stumble across this thread. I will post this same message every few pages as I realise people can't/won't read every single post. Btw, I'm not having a go or a rant at anyone, I just want people to know the best way to carry out this deal with minimal :( and maximum :D! lol

Before I start: DTD = double the difference SEL = shelf-edge label

    GUIDE

Always check the following if you want to bag a DTD deal:

    1. Check the Tesco price check website for your item here. Try not to be specific i.e. enter terms like 'salmon' rather than 'john west salmon'.

    2. If you spot an item that's considerably cheaper at ASDA on the Tesco price check website, then things are looking good.

    3. Now, check to see if your item is on the Tesco grocery website (here) and Asda grocery website (here). Make sure you check that the products are identical AND check that the prices match the ones you found on the Tesco price check website (step 1).

    4. Repeat the steps above for any other items you'd like. Once you've got a list of your items.....

    5. ...go to tesco and find your items. Check the SEL of all items to see if price, product, quantity, weight all match up with what you're about to buy. Check to see if it all matches on your list. If an item is on offer (e.g. BOGOF, buy 2 for £3 etc.), then make sure you put one item into your trolley!

    6. At the checkout, check the price of all your items that scan through; as they may not match the SEL. If you got some items that you know are cheaper at Tesco, then put these through as a seperate transaction. DTD is applied to your basket total.

    7. Enter receipt details online (here) and wait! Results should appear within 24 hours.

    8. Follow the steps above for DTD heaven!

I'm sure I've forgotten some points so please point them out. I will add them to my next post when a few more pages have been added to this thread!

    *Extra info*

Some answers to commonly asked questions:

BOGOF, B1G2F offers....do i get them?: no matter how tempting this may be, only buy the single item! if you do want more than 1, then put them through as seperate transactions.

can i use my DTD voucher to purchase another DTD shop?: yes!

can i use coupons towards my shop? will it affect my DTD payout?: yes coupons can be used. they are calculated as a form of payment. you're dtd will not be affected.

when is the price check website updated?: from what i've seen, it's updated late afternoon/early evening. so if you are worried, it's prob best not to do a shop around those times.

is there a minimum purchase?: only one item needs to be purchased

Will this work in TESCO EXPRESS ?: NO

what is the maximum amount i can get in DTD?: 10 receipt claims can be made each calendar month and £100 per household each calendar months. however, people have been getting more than £100 without any problems atm.

how long is my DTD voucher valid for?: 28 days from issue

can i use my DTD voucher and get a refund on the items that i bought (or vice versa)?: risky business, i personally wouldn't do it. if you return the item, it's usually marked on your receipt; this may go against you if you want to use the whole DTD voucher on your next shop.

Have just done a tescos shop £45.15, £4.38 of this is non comparable (mags, onions etc) but this i already knew, my mum gave me £10 to get her a bottle of baileys (i told her about the dtd but she told me to keep it as she would have paid the £19.19 anyway so free money!!!) so technically minus the £10 i spent £35.15 (this was mainly paid by my last dtd voucher which was £34.54) so cash expenditure £0.61 will see how it comes out....also found a couple receipts lying around so entered those too
