LED lights to replace chandelier?

I'm looking to replace a light fitting in my dining room with LED lighting - the old fitting takes half a dozen candle bulbs that are getting harder to find, and I want to replace it with something money-saving! Can anyone recommend a good supplier or point me in the right direction for the kind of lights you can still see your dinner with - some of the LED lights I've seen have only been suitable for low-level auxiliary lighting as opposed to the main light source in a room.

If you want to keep the light fitting, the specialist bulb suppliers (not the DIY sheds) will supply candle format LED bulbs (if you buy the frosted ones you won't see the LED mounts inside if that bothers you). Lightplanet.co.uk (just picked at random) do 2.5W candle bulbs on standard bases (Edison screw and bayonet) which would go in your current fitting. With LED's its hard to tell their traditional equivalents but from personal experience I'd say 2.5W is in the 40W ball park - so 6 of those shouldn't leave you in the dark. Obviously they are expensive up front, but if you buy quality ones they should last a very long time. I'm seriously considering some of these to replace 28W Halogen candle bulbs (40W traditional equivalents) in a chandelier fitting in our dining room.

If cash is short Homebase were selling own brand low energy candle bulbs in packs of two the last time I visited, which was probably a couple of months ago. They were in orange & white boxes. I bought 2 boxes for spares as they are usually quite expensive and these were, from memory, 40p/box(2).

There you go, for £2 or less you would become greener, have some spares for the cupboard and the money you save can be put aside until the LED bulb prices drop to realistic levels.

Megaman do low energy bulbs for dimmers I have them on my living room 5 of them at a time so far 3 years usage with no problems they do take a minute or so to warm up
