I'll let you into a little secret, I have this (clicky), and it cost me 0. (was a present).

I do 99% of my cooking on it, and while we have a 3 piece set of ss pans, I do most of my cooking in a Circulon Infinite 24cm Saute Pan.

I have reviewed both products on Amazon, see if you can guess who I am (hint, my review is the most helpful for the induction hob ;))

My wife still can't get the hang of the induction hob though (sometimes I think it is bloody-mindedness). I know it is a little confusing to press power, and then temp twice to get the temp before you start cooking, but once you know to do it is a piece of proverbial.

I have to say, the cobination of the induction hob and that circulon pan is amazing, and it comes in a close second fro boiling water (at 2kW) with my 3kW kettle - about a 10-15 second difference for the same quantity of water. Not too shoddy if you ask me. but I digress.

Yes, she is set on one and she actually prefers the look of the MR over the other two (I'm shocked, as this is the one I recommended if she was to get one at all). I will let you know what it is like once I get my grubby mitts on it.

I can see one use for it already - no more lumpy gravy :D

Now, the nasty, sneaky part of me thinks: can't you take the fuse out of the existing hob so she has to learn to use the induction? You can always claim you've ordered her a soup maker and the retailer has let you down ;)

Show me where I can find the fuse on a Gas Cooker :p

Re the MR soup maker - if you want it at the £64.99 price (either through Delia Online or Slimming World Magazine), then be prepared to wait until mid may - as that is when they are expecting the next lot in.

HOWEVER, whilst Dunelm Mill are also showing out of stock, Additions Direct and Woolworths.co.uk (which use the same frontend software by the looks of things so may be in actual fact the same company) allow you to add to basket.

As her Birthday is at the end of the month, I am willing to pay an extra £35 so as not to have to wait another 2 months (my ears will thank me even if my wallet won't ;)). Phoned up Additions to query stock, was told they were in stock, so purchased it. Should be here tomorrow.

  • As the soupmaker offer is valid until 30th April from Slimming World Magazine (March/April Edition) there is plenty of time to read a review.
  • I've just made some soup in my Waring Soup Maker to see how much it weighs when full - 3.673kg / 8.01.5lbs. Some people say they struggle with it because of the weight.

I've just seen you've ordered the MR one, is that the one that looks like a kettle? It looks like it'd be much lighter, can you let us know how your wife gets on using it please. I love my soup maker, I've had it since Christmas and have used it everyday since. I now want one for my grandma but I think mine will be too heavy for her and am looking for alternatives. Hope your wife loves her birthday present as much as I do. :)

I just chuck all the ingredients in a pan, bring to boil then simmer till it tastes right. My family come from far and wide for my soup!
