in Cutting tax
There is not actual thread I could put this under, so has placed it here.
Will it still be down to Londoners only to pay towards the olympic games out of their council tax? or have they broadened it now to the whole of the country?
Does anyone know the answer to this?

I know that I'd be furious if I (being outside of London) was asked to pay, as it'll be London that sees any benefits from it.0

If you Google it - there's lots of information?
Most of the funding is from Lottery and central Govt. There is a contribution expected from Greater London - as they benefit from the legacy of improved infrastructure etc. But even that is based on precept .... which means they'll be bidding for it from central funds.
Just one of the many 'Google' documents here :-

They seem to stick everything in London and then we are left to pick up the bill all the time.0 -

If you has seen the state of the areas involved then you would be less likely to begrudge the development going on. Different parts of the country have benefited from taxpayers money from other areas all through history.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

What about the people that got shoved out of their homes in that area to build it all.
You wont change my opinion or feelings on this.0 -

You are completely missing the bigger picture. As well as improving facilities in the relevant areas (not all of which are in London), the Olympics attracts investment and tourism. Both of these have a positive effect on the economy as a whole, and so in the longer term benefit everyone.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Well the loss (if that is what it turns out to be) won't be enough to wreck the country like it did in Greece.0
