Credit Report Problem....

Basically about 7 years ago I had a loan with a company 'can't even remember who' and I paid them off, or at least I thought I had as I no longer heard from them - they used to come to my house to collect payment. Anyway, I requested my own credit report, and was shocked to find I still owed this company £35.
Now £35 isn't a lot, but what is annoying me is that I hadn't heard from them, so assumed I'd paid it off, (wrong to assume I know). I phoned up the company and they said that no I didn't owe them anything, they couldn't find me on file. However, they'd just had the system sorted so I might be on the archives, so he'd ring me back.......Still hasn't and I really must (been waiting a year lol oops). I only just remembered about it after reading someone elses problem on here.

ANYWAY, if I do owe this money then I'll pay it, no problem there, HOWEVER, This is on my credit report that I owe it, however if this had been sorted out 7 years ago, it wouldn't be on the report now.
Can I have it changed as there was an error with this other company?

Or will I have to wait another 6 years??

If I don't owe it, then what do I do?
