Call from DM Ltd... what to do?

Hi folks. Not sure where to put this thread but hopefully someone can help or direct me where is best to put it.

Basically I received a phone call from a company called DM Ltd. They told me my name and asked me to confirm my address for security reasons. I never give out any details on the phone so I politely declined. They called me again and asked for the house number but told me the street. I again did not divulge the information. They did however have my old address.

I googled "DM Ltd" and it appears it is a debt management company. They will not tell me what it is regarding so I am left wondering what is going on. I have an overdraft and 1 credit card but everything is paid on time and my credit score is very good (managed to get a mortgage in these difficult times).

Any ideas what I can do or should I just leave it? Thanks.

Dont worry just a fishing trip, possibly looking for you but maybe not. If they are so intent in contacting you let them write to you.

They debt could be SB as well if not showing on your credit file, so take that into consideration.
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.

Thanks King. One question, what does SB mean?

    Statue Barred

Should any debt go past 6 years in England and 5 years in Scotland, you by law do not need to pay it.

As long as you have not acknowledged the debt by 1. making a payment on the account or 2. by writing in stating that this is your debt then if not showing on credit file I suspect that it is SB.

When their letter comes in it will state who from and what debt for. You then can send letter, but PM me when you receive thier letter, and I will give you the letter to send to them.

One will be no acknowledgement of debt, one will be harrasement by phone and another will be not invited to make personal visit to your property.

After these letters should they call turn up then we can make formal complaint to OFT OFCOM etc etc.

Ah I see. Thanks so much.

So if they call back then give them my address. If they don't call back should I call them?

    Do nothing at all.

Do not call them do not speak to them, should they call you again, say

" hang on while I go and get them" and go do something else.

Come back 5 mins later and see if still on the phone.

If they are say that you are still looking for the person but it seems you cant find them, the house is too big.

    JUST DONT SPEAK TO THEM.

Its up to them to prove to you that the debt is yours not the other way round.

Make a note of every phone call that comes through from them. Have pan and notepad by the phone. Write down date and time of call. This will help when sending harrassement letter and complaint to OFCOM if it comes to that.

Everything needs to be done in writing.

Hi just a quick update. I have had 2 further phone calls (did not answer as I was at work so they left a voicemail) and also text me asking me to call them.

I am getting really sick of this. The have my old rented address but I moved 5 months ago and bought a house. I still have no idea what this is all abut as the want me to ask secuirty questions before they tell me... which I am not going to do!
