Your Dad - a subscription to a motorbike mag? MCB I think is really popular. Not sure on how much it is.
Mum - a massage voucher for when she's overdone it at the gym?
Bro - I've got mine some smellies and a penknife. I have no idea here!0 -
You may be better off in the Christmas thread.
My Dad is always a problem. This year he is getting a mag subscription and home made peanut brittle (hope he's not reading!!)
Can you take your Mum somewhere special? The theatre and dinner, just the 2 of you? Or you cook and the pictures?!Ciggie free 2am 21/09/06. Debt free 25/06/09.'It was such a lovely day I thought 'it's a pity to get up'' W. Somerset Maugham.0 -
Wow those are big budgets, I'm hoping to get all of mine for under a fiver.
For your dad you could get a nice selection of wines - maybe four bottles all different. Two red, one white and a dessert wine. Or really unusual wines, go to a specialist wine merchant and see what they recommend.
For my my mum I'm planning to make a calendar with some family photos - a mix of old and new ones - and I'm going to try to design it to look good and not totally naff, then print it out on good quality card.
It's worth keeping an eye out on freecycle for free presents - I've done pretty well so far with an iMac and two pairs of roller blades - just for the price of petrol to pick them up.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Hi,
I'm new to this and it's my first post so please b gentle with me!!
Well, my ex of 3 weeks has left me in about £2500 worth of debt he has run up in my name, (stupid i know but the credit cards i really didn't know he was using) and the bills i paid when he "temporerily" lost his job (ie he was sacked) have run up and i'm seriously getting scared i don't have enough money to pay it all.
to make matters worse we are in the middle of a 12 month tenancy which i am having to fight to get out of to move away from him and into cheaper accomodation.
AND i am now 27, single again, have no money to socialise and meet new people, and comfort ate for the past few months so none of my clothes fit even if i could go out!!!!
Sorry to rant, but felt this was the best place to find a shoulder to cry on! and i am now a mse convert and i will print off the budget planner at work tomorrow!0 -

well if like me you're on a DMP and had to change your job and now working for an agency earning less, having a fiver to spend on everyone in my family would be a great but not sure I'll manage that!!! So dont talk about being tight!!! If had the money would spend a lot more!!!Orignal debt £31k 2005; reduced to just under £27k Sept 2008 New debt: Capital One Card £1000; mortgage arrears £1,252

Don't forget that lottery tickets in cards make excellent cheap alternatives to really expensive presents and can bring lots of fun in anticipation of the results! Plus if anybody wins you can be sure they will rid you of your debt to say thanks

If your mum likes biographies, I saw Kelly Holmes' book at Poundland yesterday - hardback - price £1!0
