Hi all,
Hope you are all well! :T
I was hoping to get some advice on how to increase my income.
Here is the story for why I want to::(
4 years ago I was very comfortable with money, but then in my 2nd year of University my Parents got divorced, it was a massacre, and despite my step dad being unfaithful he managed to hide everything and me and my mom left our home and everything we had worked so hard for and ended up with a £60,000 solicitors bill.
Anyways fast forward to now, I have a job but one which pays £3,000 below the average and I am struggling to keep afloat with debt management plans I have in place and having to pay all the rent and everything else.
Basically I have £7 left a month, and my clothes are falling to bits and my car sounds like a rust bucket.
I have done our budget sheet so many times, and every time it says we should have some money left, but it never seems to happen.
Since August last year we have saved over £600 per month but we haven’t felt any benefit!
I am willing to work my socks off, so a 2nd job doesn't scare me. Data entry for 3 hours a night sounds fine to me!
Just some friendly advise would be great, I feel like I will never be able to afford anything nice again.
I got all excited last month because a brought an energy efficient build from Tesco for 10p ! such fun for a 24 year old eh!
It’s harder to when my friends (all living with mom and dad) only have to pay £150 upkeep the rest they have for computers, mobiles and holidays, sometimes it really gets me down that I can’t join them on days out.
I do keep my head up, always in hope things will change, but sometimes, like tonight, I felt I needed to talk to someone!
Please don't flame me too much !

You've come to the right board to find out loads of info, it would be best though if you read through a few pages & see what appeals & what you think that you would be good at.
Don't get suckered into schemes that ask you for money upfront, such as data entry "jobs" that don't exist.
It's very difficult to give advice to anyone knowing nothing about them or their interests, talents etc.
Good luck with reading & finding something.0 -
Hi!
Thanks so much for the reply.
My skills are computers (like everyone) I build them, program them. My degree was in Computer Science and Games Design, but sadly over the years I have switched off or lost the creative side
Thanks for the tips with the data entry jobs, its true there are plenty of bad apples out there.
Currently working in a finance and legal department dealing with the IT side, its not a bad job, they just don't pay the average wage, and with things the way they are, I tend to just get my head down.0 -
Hey Kris,
I know what having that kind of spending money is like. Have you looked around locally for any jobs you can do outside of normal hours, eg pub work or chippies usually tend to have high staff turnover. Where I work, most of the people there still live at home and just don't get why I'm always angling for overtime, and am not out on the razz every weekend.
I'm scouting around at the moment, signed up for a few survey sites, looking to see what I can ebay or sell in some other way, and looking for some online work too.
All the best, keep plugging away and a light, however small and flickering, is always at the end of the tunnel.DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

Join your local Freegle if you need anything...and I mean anything someone will be able to help you. Be it a washer, vacuum, clothes..pots and pans. I've not collected anything myself but I've given away loads of stuff through them. CD players, TV. books, plants and plant pots. and loads of weight builders equipment which my hubby no longer used. I've even seen people wanting to get rid of surplus fruit from their gardens!GC - Oct £36.17/£31

Hi Kris
Well done for posting, have a good look round the forum - loads of suggestions. In terms of a second job - see if any of your local takeaways need delivery drivers? you get tips too and generally a meal at the end of the night. survey sites are worth joining but slow to pay out. have you got anything you can sell on ebay? car boot sale?
Also , you mentioned your budgeting - maybe do an SOA and post it on the DFW board - you will get loads of advice of how to cut your living costs - bills etc.
hope this helps and best of luck :-) x0
