Like centreparcs but cheaper - suggestions please!

My wife and I would like a weekend away with our children (1 is 2 years, 1 is 2 months). I like the look of centreparcs as the accommodation looks good and nice surrounds. However, i'm not sure its worth £400+ for a weekend when the children will get such little benefit.

Are there similar places with-

nice accommodation (not a caravan)
2 beds minimum so we can chill when kids are in bed
indoor pool for kids to splash in
nice surrounds
onsite pub/restaurant

I don't think thats the moon on a stick.

Let me know where you've been and why you recommend it. Thanks.
Love is all you need da da da da da..... and a little help from a forum every now and then.

We're going to stay at The Forest Of Dean over Easter although there is no swimming pool - just a private hot tub

We have stayed here before and we liked it -

We're going to Darwin Forest Park (Pinelodge Holidays) in a few weeks, hang on while I get a linky ... http://www.pinelodgeholidays.co.uk/

Has an indoor pool & gym, pub on site, country environment ... gets good reviews on TripAdvisor ... but if you want a personal recommendation then you'll have to wait until April 10th :D

I have been to center parcs numerous times but now just feel it is way out our price range. In a few weeks we are going here
www.ribbyhall.co.uk, it has great reviews on trip advisor.

weekends are always more expensive. as your children are pre-school age, why not go during the week, you make big savings, espec if you go out of season

also try different sizes and grades of accommodation. Centreparcs room prices vary day to day, as they alter prices depending on how popular a room is. so the more people who look at a room to sleep 4, pushes the price up. look at rooms that sleep 6-8 and the prices are usually lower. its all about supply and demand

have you looked at centreparcs europe. they usually work out cheaper too, even including the ferry crossing

4 and 5* hotels always have offers on at weekends.

You won't get two bedrooms, but it will be far cheaper than £400 for a couple of nights and they have excellent leisure faclities which from our experience are always very quiet.

Check out De Vere, Barcelo, MacDonalds, Crowne Plaza.

Thanks for the comments. Weekends are preferred as they do not require as many days off work. Hotels are a nice idea but both children tend to be in bed by about 7.30pm and a seperate room means we can chill with a glass of vino. Europe sounds great but a long travel for a few days with a 2 month old baby is probably not ideal.

I agree with the above re: Center Parcs during term time. You get a great price for 4 nights.

Have a look at Argyll holidays. You can hire a chalet at Lochgoilhead which is in a lovely location but buy a leisure pass to use at the hotel on the complex. There are lots for little ones to do incl swimming, soft play etc. They have other sites but this one is my favourite .
