Possible Fraud?

Hi - Im not sure exactly where to post this but seems like this may be the best place...

Basicallly 7 months ago moved into a rented place, previous tenant had done a bunk and dissapeared off the face of the earth. She didn't owe just to the LL but to every single person imaginable. The debts she racked up were in their thousands - wasn't trying to be nosy but the amount of letters I had through the door for her was worrying and as no one listened when I sent them back as 'unknown at address' I decided to take action and contact her creditors directly - partly because they were all threatening baliffs etc and I didn't want them to come round to my house.

With the exception of a few most of the letters stopped, however recently Ive been getting a lot of post for her, and it seems she's still using this address!

Even without opening some of them I could tell this is the case - for example a jazzy envelope from 3 mobile, on the outside saying 'welcome to your new 3 package' etc.
Normally I do just put the post back in the box now a days but I accidently opened a piece the other day and it seems she's opened even more new accounts etc very recently but still saying that she lives here, infact her bank still think she lives here (one of the few that ignore the 'unknown at address' letters - infact they sent a bank card for her to my address).

Obviously Im somewhat worried that she's still using my address as her own, and am sure that it constitues fraud or something, as she obviously cannot be found wherever she now is....

Ive taken all the precautions I can take, removed her from the electoral roll etc but Ive got a niggling worry about the fact shes pretending to still live here...

Any advice?

Return everything to sender, they'll eventually get the message she's not there. If it is fraud, it's the previous tenant defrauding the companies, so it's between her and them.

Normally it's best to return the stuff unopened as you have been doing, stating that they have moved on.

If anyone turns up, even bailiffs which is unlikely, you can prove that she no longer is there by a copy of the tenancy agreement etc.

It's annoying, but ultimately not your problem.

make sure that she is no longer listed on the electoral roll at your address.

That makes getting credit much harder.

It just seems outrageous that she can get away with this - before she owed over £10k to catalouges etc and that was before what she owed to suppliers etc.... I shouldn't be the one who has to put up with the hassle whilst she's enjoying the life she likes getting everything she wants and doesnt pay a penny of... Doesn't seem right to me

There's getting yourself into a pickle with money and then there is deliberately lying and ripping off companies, its obvious she has no intention on paying it back otherwise she'd give her current address!

I know its not my problem but it really makes me mad

Don't worry, it will catch up with her sooner or later. Banks and other creditors have very long memories!

As others have said, don't open anything else, just return to sender.
