Hi my dad died nearly 5 years ago and made no will. When he died he left behind his taxi business and two houses. (with small mortgage still left on both houses) i have 1 brother and 1 sisiter. Now my brother at the time of his death was working for him as a taxi driver. He set up a business account and took to running the taxi business himself after his death.
My mother lives in one of his houses and my brother lives in the other. My brother pays my mother a wage to work for him, (even though it is techniqually her taxi business) and has been paying for the mortgages on both houses out of the business account and his personal account.
Now my mother is worried and is unsure what is hers and is worried that when she dies my brother will get both houses as well as the taxi business. She has made a will and wants one of the houses to be split between me and my sister.
What rights does my brother have when my mother dies? her name is on the deeds and mortgage but my brother is paying the mortgages. Will he be entitled to any of the houses? can he contest any will if he has been paying the mortgages????

With 2 houses and a taxi business at stake, you want proper expert advice from a solictor, not well meaning amateurs.

This shows the importance of people doing wills, had your dad had a will in the first place, this would not need resolving now.

    Who handled the estate?

If whe has made a will then this should have been done through solicitors and everything explained at that time.
