I've been slowly getting my act in gear about my debts and very bravely rang WF yesterday. I did have a loan with them I'm sure but I dont know where the paperwork is or any details.

So they basically - cant find me...gave them my address, age, d.o.b., surname - nothing....

Could they have really lost the account??? The guy on the phone suggested that I write in....whats the best and most legal way to sort this out....don't want to clear my debts and then find that this crops up - years later!

Dont contact them wait for them to contact you.

Check your credit report and see if on there, if not then its SB and cannot be legally chased.

They'll be onto you now though, I would read up on the SB rules so you'll be armed when they come calling.

Calling them is no issue, if it is SB then its either payment on account within 6 years or in writing within 6 years that will restart the clock.

Calling them has just made them aware. But then again if I had a call from someone saying they had an account and they didnt, and I was on the end of the line I would think nothing of it and put it down to customers mistake. They dont get paid enought to look that far into it.

SB means statued barred, if you havent written and said thats my debt or paid anything in last 6 years they cannot enforce the debt through the courts.

They can ask you to pay it but why would you.

Thanks everyone - I will have a look on my credit report and see what comes up....fingers crossed they haven't got a clue and somehow its dissapeard into the void.
