A remarkably small number of people so far (just 1.8%) that would struggle with base rates at less than 4%.

And 70% vote for 10% or above.

Very much not what the bears keep telling us.....

So why are the BoE so reluctant to increase the base rate then ?
30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.

Because they have a wide range of other financial issues to consider in addition to whether people can or cannot pay their mortgage?

Keeping the country growing is better for the economy. As every recession before the rates have risen considerably afterwards and this shows it is not their concern about how much someone's mortgage costs.

I think up to 6% is fine not worries.
Anything up to 10% wouldn't need any action from me.

    Over 10% and I'd sell.

Rates won't go to 5% for years though. If they ever get to 10% again house prices will be high so win win if you are a homeowner.

That's as may be. However what we would do with huge numbers of people who've been repossessed, is everybody's concern.
